A day trip in late June 2001, just because it was a nearby National Trust property that we hadn't been to. There's a tendency to go an see places like this when on holiday, but not to go and see the ones near to where you live, so we thought we'd rectify this . . .
||Topiary (251Kb) Lots of time, effort and wear and tear on the clippers . . .|
||Topiary, close up (322Kb) Amazing what you can get a plant to do when you put your mind to it . . .|
||Squirrel Bush (297Kb) Speaking of which, here's one of a pair of shubbery squirrels.|
||Squirrels, with Hall (213Kb) And here's the pair of them, with the hall in the background. After all, we were here to see that, not boggle at the gardens.|
||The old Hall (219Kb) Another view of the hall through the impressive horticulture.|
||The New Wing (215Kb) 1662. The old wing is 15th Century. Some parts of the rest of the buildings are as new as the 1800's . . .|
||Old Tree (264Kb) A squirrels-eye view of the foliage. Taken just because it looked nice and green.|
